This week in science we've been doing lots of research on Fruit Flies and what they do. Fruit flies are insects that are little flies that come around from old food and mainly fruit. There attracted to the smell of these and come. after days more and more come and reproduce and soon there are lots of fruit flies. We are doing this fruit fly project soon we haven't began yet but they are mainly for our spider habitat project. We are getting something called a cellular spider which is going to be in our terrariums and the fruit flies are dinner for the spider.
I learned that Fruit Flies reproduce fast and they are able to have babies in about a day. I also learned that female Fruit Flies only need to have sex once and then they have babies for the rest of their life. I also been doing research on the spiders and I learned that the spider eats Fruit Flies and other insects to live. Also that spiders need to live in certain places and habitats surrounded by life.

Post 12: This Week in Science (Daphnia and Introduced Species)
This week in science I did a project on Daphnia, its a organism that lives under water that scientists test drugs on before they try on bigger animals like Mice and Rats. We did this experiment on a bus that did no harm to the environment. It ran on oils an stuff from leftover vegetables from restaurants they collected. We also did other blog posts that we didn't finish before and filled out regrade forms so we can get better grades.
I learned that Daphnia lives under water and gets tested before other animals that are bigger. I also learned that Drugs can't be sold and prescribed for people without being tested on first animals like Daphnia and then animals like Rats and Rabbits. Also that drugs can be overdosed on animals the way people overdose on drugs.

This Picture shows a picture of Daphnia and I chose this picture because it shows how it looks on the outside and it looks see-through so i can see its inner body parts. |

Post 7: This Week in Science (Ecosystems)
In the last to weeks in science we've been putting a home together for our spider habitats and making one for our soon to be spider. We named him Chef Master Tyrone. He's suppose to be a gangster spider who cooks and cleans the terrarium.
We've been learning about spiders and what they eat and need to live in a terrarium. They need to have fruit flies and insects to live and munch on for snacks. I also learned that spiders shake and move when touch.

Post 11: This Week in Science (No Impact Man)
Paragraph 1: Describe No Impact Man's year long project.
Impact man's year long project was about going green and doing things to help the environment like...
- saving trees by not using tissues and junk
- not using a TV
- making his own cleaning products because of pollution and toxic fumes
- using Pampers made of cloth
- He went to farms to learn how his food was made
- He is a good man
Paragraph 2: How does No Impact Man's behavior lower his negative impact on the environment?
- saving trees is good because trees won't be cut down and more trees means more oxygen
- not using a TV saves electricity. Saving electricity is good because it saves money and fossil fuels.
- making his own cleaning products is good because they don't have toxic fumes and the containers are reusable.
- using cloth diapers is good because they're washable and reusable instead of filling up land fills with disposable diapers.
- learning about how our food is made is good because you know what you're eating, it's healthy and it gives you respect for what you're putting in your body.
Paragraph 3: What were your reactions and feelings while watching this film?
I reacted thinking about going green and helping the environment, I personally do no not care about the environment and never will because I shouldn't clean or do good to the earth if no one else does.

Post 10: This Week in Science (DYO Part 1)
This week in science I been learning more a bout fruit flies and their functions. I also been doing work on my spider habitat and adding fruit flies so my spiders Tyrone and Jeff can eat. Also I got kicked out almost every class this week.
This week I learned that if fruit flies have sex the males sperm stays inside the women forever. I also learned that if the spiders are touched they start shaking on the web, i learned that when i tapped it with my pencil.

Post 4: This Week in Science (Energy Pyramid)
Paragraph 1 - In science we learned new vocabulary words, and made food chains and other stuff. I made a drawing of my energy pyramid as you can see up in the picture. My animal was a monkey and this shoes what eats them as well as what they eat. I had to label the animals in the pyramid which and also on the other side is a food chain. it shoes the same as the pyramid but drawn differently.
Paragraph 2 - I learned a lot this week. I learned about monkeys and their predators and preys. I also learned that monkeys aren't predators they really just eat fruits and nuts. Also monkeys climb trees and do all that other good stuff.

Post 3: This Week in Science (Fantasy Habitat)
This week in science I drew a picture of a monkey for my fantasy habitat. We picked animals to do research on, draw pictures and food chains and a lot of other things... We also had to make energy pyramids and learned new vocabulary words like autotroph, heterotroph, herbivore, carnivores and all that good stuff. We also started learning about biotic and abiotic factors.
I learned this week that biotic factors are living things in a organism and biotic factors is the opposite. Every non-living thing has abiotic factors. The animal I chose for my fantasy habitat was a monkey which has biotic factors.

Post 2: This Week in Science (Frog Dissection)
Paragraph 1 - Things I did in Science this week were dissecting frogs, doing research on them in class and started blogging. I had fun dissecting the frogs even though they really stink. My favorite part was cutting open the frog and taking everything out and putting it on a piece of paper, it was lots of fun.
Paragraph 2 - Things I learned in Science this week were that male frogs have testicles, i thought only mammals do but frogs do to. I also learned how to work in a group because usually I complain or don't do any work and take the credit anyway.

This picture shows my frog after the dissection and has nothing inside him left, I chose this picture because it's a empty frog. |

This picture shows me being focused while dissecting the frog, I chose this picture because I have never seen my self so concentrated |

Post 1: First Impressions
Blogger is kinda boring I've used it before in my old school, maybe this unit in science might be interesting. I like frogs and maybe blogging about frogs wont be so bad. When I first heard we were gonna study frogs I was kinda dull because a whole unit about frogs doesn't seem so interesting. We're dissecting frogs and i think it'll be dirty, smelly and also very messy but fun.
